A
graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles in
Anthropology, she began her explorations of Africa while still in
college. She ultimately founded what was then the only woman-owned,
commercial film company in Los Angeles, which produced everything
from Toyota commercials to Environmental Public Service
announcements and documentaries. Cherri served on the boards of
several not-for-profit organizations involved in Africa wildlife
conservation and human rights in developing countries. Most
importantly she was an active board member of the South African
based Wilderness Leadership School which has sent almost 100,000
people on African wilderness trails. It was through this work she
ultimately founded EXPLORE. "It is EXPLORE’s mission to see
that wild, unspoiled Africa is left for future generations to enjoy
and nurture," she emphasizes. "True eco-tourism is the
most powerful force in preserving wilderness while supporting
wildlife, giving local people an economic incentive to protect
animals and wilderness and strengthening indigenous cultures."
The reward for EXPLORE clients is helping to preserve places where
"the African wilderness touches something essential in the
human spirit."
Cherri has a home and office in
Maun, Botswana and is a current member of the highly-regarded
Explorer's Club, a meeting point and unifying force for explorers
and scientists worldwide. Cherri spends most of each year exploring
the most remote corners of Africa and translates her passion for
Africa into creating an unforgettable experience for those who
travel with EXPLORE. She focuses on the traveler who wants a deep
experience of Africa, be it one of luxury or adventure.
